So, I added a few more things to my list, most notably#292, which is to go 100 days without eating any fast food. I’m by no means addicted to it or anything, and I don’t eat it that regularly or anything, but I would like to eliminate it from my diet pretty much completely, starting with 100 days banishment from my diet. I’m counting today as Day #1, so this will continue until April 20th, 2008. Sweet coincidence that’s near my final days of school in Lethbridge!
Now, I consider fast food establishments where you do not get seated. So McDonalds, Arby’s, DQ, Burger King, Subway, etc. I can still go to a sit down restaurant on my anniversary or out to dinner with friends or whatever, so long as it is not fast food.
I will miss A&W Onion rings the most, I do think… and possibly Subway because mmmm
My very first vlog! Now this satisfies both #274 – Post a video on youtube and #275 – post a vlog on here.
Thanks so much to Nabeel for the suggestion. It is phenomenal!!
Also, remember to check out Hey Ocean or their Myspace. Or just listen to them on here! Remember to check out their show listings. If you’re in Lethbridge come and see them at the Slice on Thursday, January17th, doors at 8 or around then.
Here’s their track “Fish”.
EDIT: I removed something off of my list, so the numbers are actually 274 and 275. Sorry!
Alright, so you probably noticed there’s not much pink on this site. I still have to but the CSS editing feature for wordpress to shape this blog like I want, but it will happen. Adam and I have been working on it and brainstorming ways to make it better. If you look to your right, yes that’s it!, you’ll see technorati, stumbleupon, etc links, and at the bottom of each post from now on, there will be a wide selection of links. Revamping the blog, you see. Also, I am considering adding some weekly features, so as soon as I figure that out, you can expect to see some continuing content!
I’m still job hunting, and still frustrated. There’s nothing I hate more than job hunting. I hate it. I love working, I hate trying to find work. Boo! I’m applying at more places tomorrow, if Adam gets back from Calgary early enough and is willing to take me around.
Other than that, nothing exciting is happening. At least not right now, just school and such. Though! Though though though!!! My dear friend Sarah is coming up in a week to see Hey Ocean (see inset, courtesey of Sarah herself) at the Slice (restaurant in Lethbridge, no website, sorry folks), and I will be joining her. I am super freaking excited for that, let me tell you!!! Sarah is awesome, and live music is too! I’ve never heard Hey Ocean before, but I hear you can dance to them, and I do enjoy dancing, especially with Sarah.
So, Alexisonfire last night!
Went to dinner at Boston Pizza because we’re so incredibly classy (and Chianti looked busy). Then we took off to Mac Hall for the show. We missed the first band, Madcowboys, so I can’t talk about them.
Then came Chixdiggit (inset – see! super cuties!). I knew they were from Calgary, and that was it. I was more than pleasantly surprised! The music was catchy and the band was super endearing, I could have taken them all home in my pocket. Adorable and good at what they do. Indeed.
Then came 10 Second Epic (no link for you!), who was not epic and I only watched 10 seconds of them prior to leaving to save my sanity. I dubbed it “you’re-cutting-the wrong-way-music”, bad emo shit. The last song they played was a radio “hit” on X92.9 (the radio show hosting the shindig), and one that I had found myself making fun of time and time again. I believe it’s called “Count Yourself In”, which is a whiney, nasally sap song that I imitate by making nasally noises in tune to the lyrics. The only good part about their set (which I could hear from where I had gone to sit) was their cover of Third Eye Blind’s “How’s It Going to Be” (I think that was it), which they announced they were not going to be performing anymore. Sad they’re getting rid of the only good part of the show, but I must admire their dedication to not making music I enjoy.
So of course, Alexisonfire came on after that. 11:30 their set started (sooo late for me haha), and it rocked. Some songs were a bit off, like they were a few seconds off from each other, but no matter, because they gave it their all. Dallas Green was cute and charming, just doing his thing. The drummer…well what can you say about drummers, they rock out and sit in the back. Wade was amazing because I have my secret 50’s poodle-skirt crush on him and all. The bassist, Chris Steele, looked like a serial killer with his epic (yes more epic than 10 Second Epic) beard and messy crazy hair. My only complaint about him was that he was wearing a white v-neck t-shirt that gave the illusion of him having well defined breasts. Intentional? I don’t know. He ripped his shirt at the end, and indeed, he did not have boobs. And of course, my baby’s daddy, George Pettit (again inset – sexy) was there, in fine form. *swooning*
Probably the best parts of the show were these:
1. When Wade kissed George. Awesome.
2. When they came back out on encore, said they had written a special song and it was the first time playing it, and ten proceeded to play the song they had just finished with, Accidents. Gotta love rock stars with a sense of humour.
And then I went home.
Oh, and I got attacked by several hardcore Tool fans, for wearing a Tool hoodie/being with Adam who was wearing a Tool hoodie. One good encounter with a guy who was a Tool fan, discussing seeing Tool in various places, I think his name was Garret Head (sp?) and he was talking about his band, which I cannot find. Sad state of affairs. Anyways. Side note: I hate people who are really into the music and get crazy and violent, yet insist on being crazy jackasses in the outer rings where the people who just want to stand politely or maybe toe-tap are. Jerks. Go into the mosh pit!
Leave tomorrow to go back to Lethbridge, and I can guarantee I will have a lot less to write about…
Went back to Milestones with Sarah and Gwen and spent a lot of time chatting. Milestones is pretty good, at least in Calgary on Stephen Ave, really good Long Island Ice teas (which I tried for the first time last night!…so maybe I can’t judge them yet…) and blended margaritas. Then we cruised around Calgary looking for somewhere fun to just dance, and ended up at Bamboo. Great place! A little too indie-scene and crowded for me, but any where with no cover and no drink minimum where you can just dance is fine by me. Pretty decent music as well. Oh, and my gin and tonic was almost entirely gin, which rocked!!!
I miss being back in Calgary where I can have something of a life. Sarah and Gwen have promised to come visit me in Lethbridge though, and we’re going to get a limo (#212) and go out for the evening! They better keep up their end of the bargain, that’s all I can say.
So tonight I went to work on number 65 – organize and produce the Vagina Monologues. We held out first round of auditions here in Lethbridge. It went alright, pretty low turnout though. Hopefully we’ll get more people in the next couple days. This one is going to take a few months, but it feels good to get another one started!
On another note, does anyone have any suggestions for things to add to my list? I’m not adding books to it or general unmeasurable things like “discover yourself”. I need concrete measurable tasks!
