Domain Change
January 14, 2008Quick Hit – Domain Change
January 13, 2008I am still waiting for it to officially be mine, but if all goes well this blog will be changing to http://www.1002things.ca
Expect big changes!
#292 – 100 Days Without Fast Food
January 12, 2008So, I added a few more things to my list, most notably#292, which is to go 100 days without eating any fast food. I’m by no means addicted to it or anything, and I don’t eat it that regularly or anything, but I would like to eliminate it from my diet pretty much
completely, starting with 100 days banishment from my diet. I’m counting today as Day #1, so this will continue until April 20th, 2008. Sweet coincidence that’s near my final days of school in Lethbridge!
Now, I consider fast food establishments where you do not get seated. So McDonalds, Arby’s, DQ, Burger King, Subway, etc. I can still go to a sit down restaurant on my anniversary or out to dinner with friends or whatever, so long as it is not fast food.
I will miss A&W Onion rings the most, I do think… and possibly Subway because mmmm
Recurring Features
January 12, 2008So a few posts back I mentioned I was interested in creating a few recurring features for the blog, and this post is introducing two of them!
The first will be part of my 2008 Resolutions. Number 4 is to read three books a month, outside of school-related books, for a total of 36 books at the very minimum. At the end of every month or beginning, I will write reviews for the books I am reading. On January 31st or February 1st, I will review this months books which I categorize under “Books I Could Watch”. They are:
- I am America (And So Can You!)by Stephen Colbert
- V for Vendetta Graphic Novel
- Don’t Eat this Book: Fast Food and the Supersizing of America by Morgan Spurlock
The other feature will be about reflecting on my past and trying to remember some of the cool things I have done. I’ll do this every week or every other week and it will be called “Reflection Friday”. I’m just so cool to have come up with a name like that, I know.
Also, everyone should check out Adam’s WordPress powered site at www.adamp.ca.
Revamping, Revamping, Revamping
January 8, 2008Alright, so you probably noticed there’s not much pink on this site. I still have to but the CSS editing feature for wordpress to shape this blog like I want, but it will happen. Adam and I have been working on it and brainstorming ways to make it better. If you look to your right, yes that’s it!, you’ll see technorati, stumbleupon, etc links, and at the bottom of each post from now on, there will be a wide selection of links. Revamping the blog, you see. Also, I am considering adding some weekly features, so as soon as I figure that out, you can expect to see some continuing content!
I’m still job hunting, and still frustrated. There’s nothing I hate more than job hunting. I hate it. I love working, I hate trying to find work. Boo! I’m applying at more places tomorrow, if Adam gets back from Calgary early enough and is willing to take me around.

Other than that, nothing exciting is happening. At least not right now, just school and such. Though! Though though though!!! My dear friend Sarah is coming up in a week to see Hey Ocean (see inset, courtesey of Sarah herself) at the Slice (restaurant in Lethbridge, no website, sorry folks), and I will be joining her. I am super freaking excited for that, let me tell you!!! Sarah is awesome, and live music is too! I’ve never heard Hey Ocean before, but I hear you can dance to them, and I do enjoy dancing, especially with Sarah.
Still bored!
January 8, 2008Okay not so much bored as really busy.
Adam and I started to revamp, but we’re nowhere near finished. I’ve been caught up in classes, volunteering, and this huge stack of reading I have to do. And I’m still looking for a job. The side of the city I am on does not offer many options aside from McDonald’s. And I am just not doing that. I’d rather starve to death.
At least I’m working towards #65 on the list, which is producing Vagina Monologues. The campus is putting it on, and it’s going very well. At least by March 8th I’ll be able to cross another thing off. I suppose I should mention I am no longer involved in the production I discussed earlier on this blog. Due to disorganization and general frustrations with the person heading it up, I felt it best to end my involvement. So from now on when I discuss the Vag Logs, I am referring to the campus production.
Oh and I have yet to get a fish
Fishy Blog Revamping – Quick Hit
January 5, 2008
Tomorrow Adam and I will be sitting down and revamping this site, so expect some changes! Probably more pink (my favourite colour) and maybe a new layout.
Also, I’m going to be job hunting and buying a new fish. I’m super excited for the fish!
Relearn French – Quick Hit
January 5, 2008I added a new 2008 resolution, which is to relearn French.
My goal is to listen to one French podcast per day, either simply podcasts in French or podcasts that aim to teach French.
My favourites so far?
Learn French by Podcast
French for Beginners Podcasts
I will also be using some of the old textbooks and workbooks I’ve accumulated.
Bon soir mes amies!
The Boring Life I Yearn to Avoid
January 5, 2008Other than that, I have had nothing to do at all. I walked to Safeway yesterday and bought some more yams (see inset – yes I took a picture of the yams I just bought…). I cooked with yams for the first time on Thursday
. Made a yam casserole of sorts (brown sugar, milk, honey, mashed with boiled yams and baked with pecans on top), and it was really good. I actually went to Safeway for margarine and cheese, but decided yams were worth buying more of.
Adam came over yesterday as well, for a little. We watched Home and Garden Television. We were planning on going to a movie, but couldn’t find anything worth going to see, sadly. We debated for a while, but soon the smooth house-hunting skills of Kristie and Phil on Relocation, Relocation took over, and we were laying around watching that. Such is life. He went home, and I went to bed, but woke up around 1am feeling naseous, dizzy, faint-y, and, oh lucky me, was hallucinating. So I gave Adam a ring and he came over and spent the night with me to make sure I didn’t die or anything drastic. I kept hallucinating about Dani Gore, and only thing morning did I find out who she was with the help of google. What a weird thing to hallucinate about. Jeepers.
Oh, I did start working on my passport application yesterday, which is the beginnings of #60 on The List and part of my 2008 Resolutions. I will hopefully be able to throw that in the mail by the end of this week so I can get on to travelling!
